Hong Kong to Table Construction Sector Bill to Streamline Dispute Resolution

Good news that statutory adjudication may finally be a reality in Hong Kong. Cash flow in construction projects is a significant problem. However, the government should also recognise that its departments are part of the problem with non-payment of sums owed and significant delays in progressing disputes through the existing ADR mechanisms. If the current massive pipeline of work is to be successfully delivered, prompt and effective resolution of disputes will need to be massively improved. Perhaps adjudication will be the tool the industry needs. Time will tell.
