Changi Airport T5: Two Major Construction Contracts Awarded
A joint venture between the Singapore branch of China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. (CCCC) and OBAYASHI SINGAPORE PRIVATE LIMITED has been awarded the $3.8 billion contractor for building the foundation and basements of the main passenger terminal and ground transport centre for Changi Terminal 5 in Singapore. The contract also covers a portion of the tunnels linking T5 and the existing Terminal 2.
Meanwhile Hwa Seng Builder have landed the $950 million contract for airside infrastructure works at T5 which includes remote aircraft stands, connecting taxiways and ancillary support buildings.
The projects are part of Changi’s plans to expand capacity by 50 million passengers by the mid-2030s as regional airport competitors, such as Hong Kong, vie for business with their own expansion plans.
Contract Dispute Consultants has extensive experience on managing contractual risk on airport related projects including Hong Kong’s midfield terminal and Third Runway projects.
